What this savings goal calculator does
It converts an ambition into a monthly number. A target such as a deposit on a flat, a wedding or an emergency fund stays abstract until you know what it demands of you each month — and a goal you have not translated into a monthly figure is one you will almost certainly miss. This calculator does that translation and accounts for whatever you have already put aside.
The formula behind it
The monthly amount is (target − current savings) ÷ months. If you want 24,000 in three years and already hold 6,000, you need (24,000 − 6,000) ÷ 36 = 500 each month. The calculation deliberately ignores interest, so the figure it gives is the one you can rely on regardless of what rates do.
