What is a scientific calculator?

A scientific calculator goes beyond the four basic operations to handle the functions used in algebra, trigonometry, science and engineering. This online version works entirely in your browser, with a full keypad plus support for your physical keyboard, so you can type long expressions naturally.

Functions it supports

You get trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan and their inverses), natural and base-10 logarithms, square roots, powers with the xʸ key, squares, reciprocals, factorials and the constants π and e. A DEG/RAD switch controls whether angles are read in degrees or radians, and a memory bank (MC, MR, M+, M−) stores a running value.

How to use this calculator

Tap the keys to build an expression — parentheses are respected and standard order of operations is applied automatically — then press equals to evaluate. You can also type directly with your keyboard and press Enter. Use ⌫ to delete the last entry and C to clear everything.

Tips for accurate results

Always set DEG or RAD before using trigonometric functions, since the same input gives very different answers in each mode. Close every opening parenthesis, and remember that powers and functions bind more tightly than addition — use brackets whenever you want to force a different order.
